Lynn Tosses No-Hitter in Sweep of Mansfield

BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University softball pitcher Ashley Lynn (Riverside/ Danville) tossed a five-inning no hitter to lead the Huskies to a sweep of Mansfield on Friday afternoon. The Huskies won 8-0 in game one and 4-1 in game two. Lynn's struck out ten batters, with her only blemish coming in the second inning when she hit a batter. It is the second no-hitter for Lynn this season and the 49th in school history. Lynn threw a perfect game earlier this season in a game against Johnson C. Smith College.

Tiff Corliss (Lewisburg/ Mifflinburg) went 2-2 with a home run and two RBI and Jess Rosin (Brooklyn, NY/ James Madison) went 1-1 with two walks, two RBI and two runs scored to lead Bloomsburg on offense. With the score 4-0, going into the bottom of the fourth, the Huskies put four more runs across to end the game and give Lynn her second no-hitter of the season.

In game two, Tara Reed (Williamsport/ Williamsport) tossed a complete game, scattering six hits, allowing one earned run and striking out seven in a 4-1 victory. The Huskies opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Rosin doubled in Reed from second base. After each team exchanged runs in the second, Bloomsburg added two more in the third when Tiff Corliss hit a one-out RBI double to make it 3-1. Later in the inning, Mandy Koch (Dauphin/ Central Dauphin) drew a bases loaded walk to increase their lead to 4-1. Reed would shut down the Mountaineers from there to improve the Huskies record to 23-8, 9-5 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division.

Rosin went 2-3 with a run and an RBI and Koch went 2-2 with two RBI to lead Bloomsburg in game two.

The Huskies will visit West Chester tomorrow at 1 p.m.
